The next BMW M5

37k_p0016311art3.jpg  The journalists from Autocar found out BMW is already working for the next generation of BMW M5 which is expected to release in 2011 after in 2010 the new BMW series 5 will show up.

With BMW M5 the Germans made a serious addition to the engine and of course performance, giving up to the V8 propeller of 400HP and adopting one of V10 of 507HP, which they say it’s using more technical solutions inspired from Formula 1.

Well, it seems that the next generation M5 will have the same V10 but the cylinder bigger to 5,5 litters and with a turbocompressor which its maximum power will be 550HP. Here it’s another premier of BMW because it will be the first “M” which has a turbo engine.

Through the adoption of the compressor BMW will probably maximum power to register some progress in the economy of fuel. Also, Autocar says the Germans may add some systems to the car to lower engine’s appetite of fuel, but this will reduce the turation of the not affect the performance.

It’s probably that we may see of M5 Stop/Start system which stops the engine in heavy traffic, when the car doesn’t go further in some period of time , but a new alternator/ generator to accumulate even the energy made from brakes.

The transmission will be manual, with 6 steps or BMW Motor Carautomatic, double clutch and 7 steps.

BMW motorEngineer’s mission isn’t so hard, considering the tuners which added V10m with 2 compressors, making up to 730HP and even 810HP. It’s sure that the department M from BMW must assure that the engine resists more hundreds of thousands of kilometers. Because it’s hard to believe that exists an owner which won’t force to 8500rpm from time to time.
