Those from Peugeot decided: they will introduce the concept 308 RC Z in series productions, but not right now.
The bigger producers relay very much on the reaction of the public when they want to come out with something new. They make some estimations before the launch of the concepts, but the public’s reaction matters a lot. In the end, this shows them if they can sell them or not up to their expectations.
The same is the case of Peugeot with concept 308 RC Z. Presented to the Frankfurt Stateroom, it caught the attention because of its planned and complex design, without to give even the sensation of a congestion of forms without logic.The car is built like a coupe with 4 places and, at least on the lateral sides looks pretty much to Audi TT.
Furthermore, the french thought from the start to a possible series production, this aspect being clear because 308 RC Z uses more marks (between them the panel instrument) from the serie’s version of new 308.
308 RC Z promises to be a true pleasure in driving too, if the French will keep the actual engine. This is propeller of 4 cylinders, 1.6 liters, turbo, “convinced” to give 218 HP and 280 Nm (300Nm with over boosty function). Pursuant to, the car accelerates to 100km in 7 seconds and reaches 235km/h. The gearbox is manual in 6 steps and the consumption is 6,7liters/100km, as they say.
Peugeot isn’t in hurry with the production of this model so they will present the prototype in Frankfurt Stateroom in 2009, in spring 2010 expecting to be sold.
